Category Manager (Subcontracting) transforms subcontracted installation services from a tactical necessity into a strategic value lever for Siemens. This role manages subcontractor risk, relationships, capacity, and productivity across a geographic Region, while also leading selected nationwide initiatives to enhance Siemens' scale. The position will have opportunities to grow including the chance to develop regional and national procurement programs and policies. This position is offered as a hybrid role, combining the flexibility of remote work with the benefits of in-person collaboration. Team members may be required from time to time to visit the Siemens local office and/or worksite based on project expectations, with the remaining time remote. Specific scheduling may vary based on team needs, project timelines, and individual performance. As a Category Manager (Subcontracting), you will: Elevate Subcontractor Relationships: Establish Siemens as a preferred, value-adding customer for key subcontractors. Ensure Market Capacity: Guarantee adequate, high-performing subcontractor coverage to support growth and large project pursuits. Mitigate Financial Risk: Own portfolio-level financial risk and proactively prevent subcontractor defaults. Drive Productivity & Cost Improvement: Define and deliver cross-functional cost-out and productivity programs for subcontracted scopes. Lead Risk Governance: Maintain disciplined qualification, SDI, and requalification processes, scaling with automation. Exercise Independent Decision-Making: Approve/block subcontractors, set/adjust SDI limits and payment terms, and decline requests when capacity or risk thresholds are exceeded. You will also stop using subcontractors for severe underperformance or risk exposure. You will make an impact with these qualifications: Basic Qualifications 3 - 5+ years of experience in strategic procurement, construction project procurement, or closely related roles Demonstrated experience managing supplier relationships with financial and operational risk exposure Proven ability to influence across Sales, Operations, and Procurement without formal authority BS in engineering, engineering technology, business, or construction management Experience using Excel to analyze spending data for opportunities. Experience to developing and delivering PowerPoint presentations to management teams. Experience creating basic visualizations with Power BI, Qlik, Tableau other data visualization platforms. Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship Candidate will be required to work in office 2- 3 days a week.
