Job Title: Procurement - Category Buyer

Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports to: Procurement Manager / Head of Supply Chain

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Category Buyer with 3+ years of sourcing and procurement experience to manage assigned categories effectively.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving cost efficiency, ensuring supplier quality, and executing category strategies in alignment with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage sourcing strategies for assigned categories, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Identify and qualify suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships to ensure value, quality, and performance.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply risks; propose cost-saving and value-adding initiatives.
  • Process and manage purchase orders, RFQs, and vendor documentation in accordance with procurement policies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Finance, Inventory Operations, Product Managers) to understand category needs and timelines.
  • Track and analyze category performance, supplier KPIs, and contract compliance.
  • Support budget planning and forecast procurement needs within the category.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a procurement or sourcing role, ideally as a field sourcing expert - A ground runner with credible market knowledge.
  • Strong negotiation, vendor management, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with procurement software or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in strategic sourcing or category management.
  • Familiarity with contract law and procurement compliance.
  • Strong knowledge on ICT Gadgets and Consumer Electronics.
