RN Med Surg Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to patients admitted to the Medical-Surgical unit
  • Perform initial patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans
  • Implement, evaluate, and adjust patient care plans according to the established protocols and guidelines of the hospital
  • Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes
  • Monitor patient health status and vital signs and report any changes to the medical team
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
  • Educate patients and their families about medical conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care
  • Adhere to infection control protocols, maintaining a safe and sterile environment
  • Document patient information, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures while maintaining patient confidentiality and professional conduct
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in a patient's condition

Facility Requirements:

  • Minimum of 9 months Med Surg experience in the last 2 years (preffered)
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in this state or a compact state license
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, based on facility needs
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to different healthcare facilities within the area

RN Med Surg Qualifications:

Here are basic qualifications and fundamental nursing skills of Nursa RNs:

  • Current and valid RN license
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and/or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Knowledge of nursing procedures and protocols
